    Make sure you know which category your cut fits into since you will need to specify the type of cut in the CAD program that you are using. As a result, each form of cutting requires certain drill bits, and the machine operator must take into consideration certain factors to get the desired results.

    Cuts for Men
    The cut around the object is called a “male cut,” and it refers to the last cut in a component that allows it to be removed from the material. In order to verify that the final product’s measurements, such as width and height, are accurate, a male tool path is cut from the outside of the part. Even the tiniest router bits have a diameter, making it hard to create sharp inner corners. As the operator would never be able to reach a true inside corner with a 90o angle, this must be considered for male cuts going inside corners.

    Cuts for Women
    A female cut is the polar opposite of a masculine cut, as one might expect. A female cut is made from the inside of the item or from the material to be removed from the object. Because of this, the CNC software will always provide a tool path with slightly rounded inner corners for female-cut objects, just like it does for male-cut ones.

    Cutting in the middle
    Using the CAD software’s On Center or Online cutting mode, the bit is guided by the center of the vector shape as it is generated. On center cutting does not necessitate the use of a polyline since the bit does not need to locate the “sides” of the cut. One or more lines (or arcs) are used to create a polyline in AutoCAD. Shapes that have previously been cut and require additional cutting, such as beveling with a V-bit, are most commonly beveled utilizing on-center cutting.

    Cleanouts
    This is comparable to cutting all the way through the material and milling out a shape, except instead of doing so, the cutter only cuts to a specified depth before milling out a shape. Materials can be grooved or 3D-routed using cleanouts. Materials that will not deform during cutting are ideal for 3D routing, but the procedure might take a long time to complete since the drill bit must clear a specific spot several times. It’s best to use bigger bits when clearing out a broad region to save down on cutting time.

    Drilling
    As with Female cutting, drilling involves making an incision inside the object. Drilling, on the other hand, is intended solely for the purpose of making holes, and each hole is precisely the same size as the bit used to make it. Drilling might imply routing the material completely through or only partially so that a countersink hole can be created in the material.
